Drivers from Credence

Credence is a US driver manufacturing company that has been building low cost, high-quality drivers for over 30 years. These drivers are extremely tough when it comes to actual power handling. They are built with heavier magnets and frames as compared to other drivers in a similar price range. Credence determines the power ratings on the drivers using long duration tests, where the driver is placed in a small, sealed box to prevent mechanical bottoming.

The high quality and ruggedness of these drivers makes them ideal for car audio and home theaters that have some punch. Not just hear the dinosaurs' footsteps in "Jurassic Park", but feel them stomping through your living room!

These new drivers from Credence use patented Inner Lead System (ILS) technology and new ribbed surrounds. The ILS technology solves a number of problems:
• Voice coil lead wires are now protected • Eliminates lead slap (wires too long) • Eliminates lead tears (wires too short)		Click on the picture to see it in action (requires Flash Player):
The new ribbed surrounds improve a driver's ability to withstand extreme back pressure and the clear dustcap allows you to see cone and lead wires in motion.

Unless otherwise noted: Magnets are Strontium Ferrite, Cones are Talc Filled Copolymer, Voice coil formers are Kapton. Wmax is for an unclipped amplifier.

To ensure that drivers hold up under heavy power, a proper sealed box is required. Alternatively, if a vented box is used, a band limiting filter is required to avoid high excursions below the box tuning frequency.
